Beware of falling records

Eighty-onethree degrees.

Yet it is tomorrow the weatherpeople claim we could see a record high temperature fall.

If this were June, extended eighty degree days would call for turning on the air conditioning, but I cannot bring myself to even contemplate doing that in March. Though from the looks of the forecast, the freakishly summer-like weather is going to stretch well into next week.

There is one sure-fire way to end this streak, you know. All I need to do is take the hose out, rinse off the patio, remove the furniture covers and set up the patio furniture. As soon as that happens, a snowstorm will roll in.

Still, I can't quite bring myself to do it. The sunshine is glorious, the bird song enchanting. There are few bugs yet, and no mosquitoes at all. This is what summer really should be, rather than blazingly hot and humid, smoggy and full of little flying things that bite.

The old saw says that if you don't like the weather in Wisconsin, you should stick around a few days. Our recent weather is the exception that proves the rule.
