Perimenopausal moment #123749

Silly, silly me. After work, I thought I'd stop at the big grocery store. Nothing urgent - just a stop for fresh vegetables, a loaf of bread and something different for tomorrow's lunch.

It wasn't until I pulled into the parking lot at the store that I remembered tomorrow is slated to be the first snowfall of the season. People lose their minds when that first snow is predicted. They flock to the store to stock up on enough food (and beer) to last a week or more. If this were Phoenix, I'd understand, but this is Wisconsin, where snow is a way of life three months out of the year; our sanitation crews do a great, fast job of clearing the streets.

The parking lot was full to the furthest rows, with vultures frustrated shoppers cruising for open spaces. I don't even want to think about the pandemonium inside the store.

There is steak for dinner, hot chocolate mix in the cabinet and the fixings for chicken soup in the freezer and fridge. I'm set for the next twenty-four hours.
