Then home, for a traditional Christmas Eve - frozen pizza and a movie. I can't tell you how long I've been doing this, maybe twenty years? Our family Christmas was always very early Christmas Eve morning, so other than maybe a church service, the rest of the day was my own. On the way home from church one year, I realized I hadn't eaten dinner, so I stopped at the only place open: Walgreens. On impulse I picked up a copy of Air Force One to go with the pizza, and a tradition was born.
Strange but true, and a nice break in the middle of what can be a hectic couple of days.
It's easy in the middle of the chaos to forget why we have this holiday. But rest assured, He has not forgotten about you. In fact, you could say remembering us is the whole reason He came. He loved us too much to let us continue to die in our sin, longed for a restored relationship with me and you.
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light;those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone.
Isaiah 9:2
The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, but his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son to the Father, full of grace and truth...For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.
John 1:9-14; 16-17
Merry Christmas, everyone.
