Last day of work before a vacation that doesn't end until January 9th. We are free to leave an hour early today (our custom for the workday before a holiday), but I'm bugging out of here as soon as humanly possible. I had over thirty hours in for the week when I left here last night...I need some sleep.
And some Christmas cheer. While I've decorated, I've not made a single cookie, not even a quick batch of spritz. Nothing says "holidays" like little green christmas tree shaped spritz cookies with chocolate chips as the "star". Seriously. Three or four of those and a cup of good coffee perk me right up.
Christmas Eve is a bit of a logistical mess. A friend had talked several weeks back about having a brunch for friends (no family to stress her out) on Christmas Eve. At that point even having it was a maybe, and somehow I missed the actual invitation until yesterday, when she asked if I was coming. Yes, I am! While I have a hair appointment early, I should be done about half an hour before the brunch starts.
The logistical nightmare centers around the egg casserole I'm taking to brunch. There's no time to go home and let it bake between the hair appointment and brunch. I have a nice carryall thing for casseroles that keeps them hot, but if I make it before the hair appointment, I'd have to take that carryall into the salon in order to keep the dish hot (leaving it in a freezing car defeats the purpose of the carryall - we could reheat it at the brunch, but eggs get tough if overcooked...)
Don't even suggest I skip the hair appointment; root touch up is a sacred ritual conducted every three weeks.
I'll figure it out, after I have a nap later. Who knows, I may end up making a couple pans of baked french toast. It reheats a bit better than the egg stuff.
Can you tell I skipped breakfast - all this talk about food?
Five hours to go until freedom...
