It may appear that after Saturday's burst of ambition, I'm lazing away the rest of this vacation. It depends, I suppose, on your own definition of "lazy". Spending an entire day (or close to it) in a coffee shop with several books in front of me doesn't fit my personal definition of "lazy". Nor does wandering the back roads out to pick up the cleaned and oiled sewing machine.
The housework is slowly getting done. While the stash is reduced, I still have a few miscellaneous lengths of fabric to put back in bins before stuffing the containers under the bed. The dining room table is mostly cleared; things are sorted, but not quite put away. "Not quite" is apparently the theme of this week's housework.
I still haven't gone grocery shopping.
The construction guys are working like crazy on the road, so while the windows are wide open to cool the house down to our delightful 53 degrees (high today 60; high tomorrow 87-a twenty seven degree change!), they will need to be closed around noon to keep the dust out.
Then there is the noise from the track. I'm a bit confused, since IndyCar is not running at the Mile next Saturday, the week after Indy, as has always been the case (well, always according to IndyCar, though it wasn't the IndyCar series that ran here...don't get me started). The cars started running yesterday, and I'm assuming they are using these two days as test and set up days, as there is no event for them at all this coming weekend. Yesterday's noise was so continuous it sounded like an actual race.
Off to Target in a minute, then home to putter in the sewing room. The desk/office area is cleaned, the sewing table cleaned off. All I need to do is drop the sewing machine back in place and go to it. While I was picking up my machine, I made the mistake of asking about the new ones. Oy. Double oy, actually, as I was told the presser feet I have for my current machine will not fit any of the new ones. While I only have ten or so, the average cost per foot is pretty steep. Fortunately (or not) I've since discovered that they will fit the newer models.
That just makes the decision harder.
Did I mention they are running a one day, 20% off, 48 month free financing deal later this month? And that there are all sorts of little sweeteners that go along with the new machine? (One of which is a second sewing machine - I kid you not). While I can easily swing the purchase without it affecting any of the condo plans, the real issue is whether I should.
