Surprised

That is one of the words that came to mind as I brushed two inches of heavy, wet, supposed-to-be-rain off of the car this morning, as more fat, wet flakes fell on my hair.  The hair I had taken the time to curl this morning, not realizing a surprise snowfall would turn it into a straight, wet mess before I even got into the car.

And did I mention I left my boots at work yesterday, because, hey! the forecast called for rain?

In a way, snow today is fitting.  The bit we've had is enough to cover over the gray and yuck left behind by previous snows, turning everything white and pure - a new start.  It's the beginning of Lent - the introspective, sacrificial run-up to Easter, the celebration of the new start we are all offered in Christ.

"Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool."

Isaiah 1:18
