I've great plans to get back to quilting this weekend. The queen size quilt top is partially constructed - the rows are in the process of being sewn to one another, the pieced border is already assembled, and the whole thing is taking up valuable real estate on top of the fully opened sewing table.
Which needs to be closed up if I ever intend to thoroughly vacuum in there again.
US Cellular (bear with me; this is connected) finally delivered the rebate on last December's phone purchase, in the form of a prepaid debit card. Since, assuming I actually finish the top this weekend, the next step in the quilting process involves layering backing, batting and top and basting/pinning/spray adhering them together for quilting, it may be a good thing to purchase backing and batting.
See how that is connected?
The website ConnectingThreads.com (heh) is where I bought the kit for the quilt top, so I moseyed over to see if they had any of that particular fabric line in stock. After all, it's been a year since I bought the kit, and the line had already been around long enough that the kit was on closeout. That's eons in fabric line time.
Lo and behold - not only did they have the particular fabric from the line I wanted for backing, it was on sale for $2.98 per yard! A queen size quilt takes nine plus yards of fabric to back (there will be some left over). Batting was on sale 30% off. Needles are always lower than in the brick-and-mortar stores. Shipping on my order was free. Add some thread to match the quilt top, and voila! There might be enough left on the rebate card to get me a tall coffee at Starbucks.
Now I just need to be sure to spend time assembling that top this weekend.
