Lotus dreaming

A rumble, much like a cheap beater without a muffler, was approaching on my driver's side while I was tooling down the highway to work this morning.  A quick glance in the side mirror, then a longer one...and I slowed down a bit and dropped back to let the car making the noise pass me so I could get a good look.

That wasn't a Cavalier on it's last legs, it was a Lotus Exige.  Even doing less than the speed limit (he was stuck behind a pokey motorcycle) it looks fast - and with 240 horsepower, performance more than matches looks.

The youngish man driving it intently stared at the road - a car porter, maybe, worried about the responsibility?  Good heavens, if I had the chance to drive that car, as porter or owner (or thief), I'd be grinning ear to ear.  An Exige is a rare sight in Milwaukee; it may be they are on their way to the vintage auto event at Road America this weekend, as the event draws all sorts of exotics, old and new.

My only complaint - if you are going to pay over $66,000 for a car, why would you buy one that is orange, especially when that color is a special paint carrying an additional charge?
