For a day that began rather badly, it's turning out to be oddly productive.
There were the rolls that were accidentally left to rise overnight on the stove; they baked up almost edible. I did manage to vacuum and wash both the kitchen and bathroom floors without slipping and breaking my neck, always a good thing. The dishes are washed, shrimp is thawed for fajitas for dinner, home made chocolate chip cookie dough is in the refrigerator and a bunch more of my recipes have been reloaded into the cookbook software (the fajita recipe was one I had to reload today; I had the supplies on hand, so why not have them for dinner?)
The fiasco with the Superdome-sized slice and bake cookies the other night gave me a hankering to make the real thing. Back about six months or so, when I bought the food processor, part of my reasons for getting it was to mix up cookie dough. The little hand mixer can only do so much, and I have no real need (but a real lust) for a Kitchen Aid behemoth. The food processor has a dough blade, and can handle a more heavy duty mixing job than the little handheld.
So out it came. Not knowing if the bowl could really handle all the flour the instruction manual said it could (more like not being in the mood to clean up the mess if it couldn't), I cut the classic Toll House Cookie recipe in half. Everything came together well, though I did need to take the cover off and push things down fairly often (I think a full batch would solve that problem). The dough was turned out into a mixing bowl to add the chips and some chopped pecans; the dough texture is a bit softer than usual, but I refrigerate it and bake the cookies later anyway.
We'll see if I can make these cookies the right size.
Dinner next, then move the car to the other side of the street. I've not been out all day. Maybe a bit of decluttering later, or maybe just a book. Nice, slow Saturday.
