As I 've said before, I apparently need to have a cup of coffee before I make the coffee, if you know what I mean.
Case in point -
This is the start of the Great Summer Hours Experiment, where for the first time I'm taking advantage of my employer's variable work schedule offering for the summer months. While I have Mondays off, it now means I need to be at work at 6:30 a.m. the remaining four days of the week.
No big deal, right? Especially since I'm generally here by 6:47 or so even without doing summer hours. But being slightly paranoid, I made sure everything was ready last night - clothes, lunch, work bag...and the coffee maker set up to auto-start.
I know what you are thinking, but you are wrong. The reservoir was filled with the correct amount of water, the filter was in place, the timer set for the correct auto-brew time and cycle. The machine turned itself on and performed brilliantly at the appointed time.
It took me a minute, standing in front of the coffee maker when I went to fill the travel mug, to figure out what went awry.
It seems I forgot to put the coffee in the filter.
Gah. It's going to be a long day.
