Every other Monday we hold a short, stand up meeting of the administrators in the office, just to touch base on what's up in the different areas. It's not a big deal - five minutes of time just to let people know what projects are cooking.
Today's meeting was not canceled, though the office doors for both the comptroller and associate comptroller were still closed. The office calendar says the associate is off today, but the big boss should be in. We think he may be at a golf outing...
You can tell where this is heading. At nine-thirty, the A/P manager, reporting manager and I were the only ones in the room. The three of us are the next most senior of the people actually in the office today, and apparently are the only ones who see any value in this meeting. Yet everyone else routinely complains about the lack of communication in the department.
It's going to be a long day.
