Forgive me, but my brain is full to bursting and I need to make some room to think:
- Our winter storm warning has been downgraded to an advisory. We are only getting one to three inches, rather than three to six. Pffft. At this point, another six inches would hardly be noticeable. The big disadvantage to having that 18" snowfall earlier this month is that by comparison, everything else seems like a minor inconvenience.
- By contrast, on the way home from the grocery store late morning Saturday, I opened the moon roof on the car. All the way open, not just popping up the back edge. And I remembered to close it, too. Any temperature above 25 degrees is considered spring around here, you know.
- The Occasional Choir met after church this Sunday. That's the term our pastor uses for our choir, which only sings, well - occasionally. Don't know why it tickles my fancy so. Talent attracts talent, and New Day seems to be a mecca (as in the place regarded as a center of interest or activity sense, not the sacred birthplace of the prophet-who-must-not-be-caricatured-in-comics sense) for musical talent.
- Speaking of New Day, our genius sound and technical doohickeys master (Hi Kevin!) updated us this Sunday about the changes to our technical...stuff. The bottom line is that we've gone digital, giving the sound better clarity and allowing us to turn the volume down and do some other wonderful technical...stuff (stuff is a very technical word, you know)(I did actually understand what Kev said Sunday, but my brain is a little fried at the moment) that enhances not only the congregation's ability to clearly hear the message and the music, but the musicians' ability to hear one another. Which is always a good thing.
- The sin of pride...I added the link for New Day early last week, and was feeling rather smug when Kevin (who is also the webmaster) described some recent changes to the site, and encouraged us to go take a look, and to use it regularly. Then I came home and the mouse died. Not that there is a connection.
- Being sick put a huge crimp in my monthly menu plan, but I'm back to cooking. Salmon Risotto was the plan for last night. Let's just say I now remember why I haven't made this in almost two years. I'm pretty patient, but I get bored having to add broth, stir, let it absorb, repeat, repeat... For some odd reason, the grates on this stove do not grip the pans the way the old stove's did. The old ones were untreated; the new ones are slick and pretty, but the pans slide around if you try to stir something without holding the handle of the pot. So I couldn't stand there with the spoon in one hand and a book in the other, which I'd normally do to alleviate the boredom.
- Shut up and listen - this deserves its own post, which it will get as soon as the rest of this stuff is out of my brain.
