Uncovered

Or why I was up until all hours on Tuesday night rereading my own blog.

A dear friend recently started her own blog, and wanted to look at mine to get some ideas. I've never kept the blog secret from my in-real-life friends; frankly, no one seemed much interested (except for you,
Holly!). What I didn't expect was my friend spending an afternoon going through all my archives.

Oh my.

I have a difficult time remembering where I set my car keys down, much less what I've written over the past two years. Who did she see when she went through the archives in one fell swoop? What parts of me are revealed in 440 posts, some written quickly, some with thought, some for fun and some in earnest?

That's what drove me back to my own archives.

There were a few "Wow - did I write that!" moments, interspersed with an equal number of "Wow - did I write that?!" moments. Things I could have put more elegantly, and things that were perfect as they were. Events I had forgotten, and frustrations of the moment. Inspiring prose, and drivel.

My conclusion, after several hours of reading? In the ever-famous words of Popeye, "I yam what I yam, and that's all that I yam." This blog is a pretty accurate reflection of who I am, what I believe and how God is working on me.

In the few days since Grace read through the archives, two other friends IRL found this place, through other means. Welcome! Sit down, read a while. For a quick overview of odd factoids about me, take at look at the T3 (Thursday Three) entries. For things that bug me, see Gentle Rants. Quilt pictures and talk are labelled Quilts; recipes under Recipes (imaginative, that). Faith contains spiritually-centered thoughts; Lists are proof of my anal-retentive organizing mania.

Where I am (sometimes) an idiot is self-explanatory.

The editor reserves the right to adhere to the current standard of literary drivel prose, however high or low that may be. Feel free to comment (click the link at the bottom of the page that says "What do you think?" or "Sweet words" or "Clever conversations") or drop me an e-mail.
