Tradition

The predawn Christmas breakfast our Bible study celebrates far predates my involvement with the group, going back at least seven years, possibly more. The first year I was in the study, I was astounded that anyone would have a dozen women over for a special holiday breakfast - at 5:45 a.m on a workday, no less.

The last two years the celebration has been a reunion of sorts. The study had grown to almost a dozen women, making both logistics and studying difficult. Our rather spirited group commandeered a huge table in the middle of the restaurant; with so many people, multiple discussions rather than a cohesive study was more the norm. So we split the group in half, the groups then meeting at different restaurants and on different days. But we are still one body:

For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. I Corinthians 12:12 English Standard Version

Laughter, tears, prayers, an overabundance of food, more laughter, silly pictures...there is nothing like the sweetness of fellowship with sisters in Christ to start the day.

Father, thank You so much for leading me to this incredible group. You have blessed them with wisdom and compassion, encouragement and dedication to Your word. Through their teaching and example, You've ministered to me. May they be blessed at Christmas and through the new year with an overwhelming experience of Your constant care, Your love for them that far exceeds all we can hope or imagine.
In Jesus' name, Amen
