Two hours and counting

So, what few necessities am I keeping in my office until the last possible moment? The computer, obviously, although I have a little rolling cart to put it on - just power down, unplug the power strip and the 'net connection, and roll it out. My phone - though why, I don't know. My coffee cup - full. Hey, I finished moving a bunch of stuff out of the office before I had my first cup of coffee today. I need a few more.

I need to clean a bit - at least wipe down the tops of the file cabinets that are staying in this office. Final word is that my desk and table/flipper thing will be tossed. I did remember to take a couple pics of the (almost) empty office - will post them once I remember how to e-mail them from my phone to the computer, save and post.

Much later update - Well, they weren't done when I had to leave just after 3:30. I didn't expect quite so much to come in flat packs that needed assembly. One can only hope everything will be complete when I roll into the office at 6:30 tomorrow morning. The good news: I can wear jeans again tomorrow! I tell you, sitting in the "bullpen" area of the office, trying to work on an unfamiliar computer, not having direct access to voicemail, or my box of Kleenex (pretty dusty emptying the office)...just not a great day. And the subordinate who made the mistake approached me just before I left today, all upset because my boss chewed her out - yet she still can't seem to just admit she dropped the ball all around. She was upset because he pretty much called her incompetent - unduly harsh words, I agree, but not far off the mark in this particular instance. We are going to have a chat next week after a luncheon we are attending. I'm trying to get her to focus on what we can do to prevent this sort of thing from happening in the future - but she seems to feel she has been treated unfairly (!) because of the mistake, and isn't much interested in changing.

It's no coincidence that the lessons for tonight's Bible study were on Matthew 5:9: "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God."
