I did some messing around with the template last night, looking for something more springlike and simple. I do like this, but there was one casualty: Echo comments disappeared. Since (for the first time ever) I didn't save a backup copy of my old template, the code I had embedded to get the commenting system installed is gone.
Not that it matters; a week or so ago I received an e-mail from Echo/JSKit/Haloscan/whatever-the-heck-they-call-themselves-these-days saying they are closing up their commenting service this summer, to focus on other business lines. No suggestions for other services, no mention of refunds for unused subscriptions, just don't let the door hit you on the way out.
So...losing the code just hastened the switch back to blogger comments, which should be easier for everyone anyway. I'm a bit miffed at losing three years' worth of comments, so let's try to make up for it, shall we?
Update to add a note about the "sign in" for comments: If you don't have a google account or any of the others, don't sweat it. But if you do comment as "anonymous", please sign your post, and leave your own blog url if you have one. I enjoy reading new blogs, and will often visit and leave a comment for you - it's only polite.

Because mine's an older blog, I was asked to send a copy of my template to Echo so they could remove Haloscan code.
I've lost ten years of comments.
I sent them a query.
And this template is a nice, readable one.

Readability was a prime motivator - I was tired of the busy-ness of the other one. Using Times New Roman helps, as well.
@ Janis - I think my old, original blogger comments may be there, but I switched to Haloscan about two years in, if even that long, then got caught up in the switch when Haloscan was sold. Not happy about losing them, but we'll try to build up some new ones!
