Good morning! A fresh cup of latte from Starbucks this morning is a much needed treat.
As much as I'd like to post progress pictures of the sewing room clear out, no progress has been made. This sick thing is really overrated. The cough and associated aches I can handle, but the utter exhaustion is something else entirely. I don't have the luxury of being able to stay home from work much longer than the two days I took last week, but honestly, I get home, sit down, and only get up when it is time for an early bedtime.
In light of the never-ending tiredness, I decided to treat myself, and give Pea Pod a chance for home delivery of groceries. The delivery was last night.
I could get used to this.
Overall, the prices were a bit higher than in the store, though not on the items that were marked as on sale the day I made up the order. There is a rather hefty minimum order ($60), but they happened to have thin cut chicken breast on sale for about the same as I'd pay for chicken breast per pound at Aldi. The advantage of the thin cut is that they thaw much more quickly, and make it easier to portion control. A good stock of those brought me up to the limit (in fact, my order was $60.97 in total).
A first-time shopper discount of $15 took care of the delivery charge ($10).
Given how tired I am, it was a decent deal - as a once-in-a-while thing. The only way I could see this working any more often is if I made a menu based on what they had on sale - and stuck to the menu.
An italian stew is in the crockpot, and I'll throw together some Irish Soda Bread when I get home. A friend is coming for a low-stress evening - dinner and simply hanging out. Other than that, I foresee lots of naps over the weekend, and maybe a little time on the patio in the mid-seventy degree sunshine.
