A Presidential campaign visit

Milwaukee is blessed with yet another presidential visit today, a stop for a campaign speech at MasterLock, touting the company's decision to "insource" a hundred or so jobs back to the U.S. from China. He will also highlight two other companies that have chosen to add jobs in Wisconsin.

Nowhere in this speech, one assumes, will he mention the efforts of the man standing beside him on the platform to bring those companies and jobs to our state. At first it seemed odd that the Wisconsin Republicans wanted Governor Walker to appear with the President, but on second thought, what better way to spotlight the differences?

Milwaukee is still quite the union town; most likely they will pack the venue with their people (even if they need to bus them in) simply to give the appearance of widespread support for the government's policies. But we won't be fooled - the gains made in Wisconsin recently are not due to pronouncements and programs offered by the federal government, but are due to the changes the Walker administration has made, aiming to make it easier and more profitable for businesses to operate in the State.

Update: Heh. Governor Walker isn't going to make it; he's recovering from a bad case of stomach flu. Probably doesn't want to relapse...
