Lovely day

In spite of the rather rocky start Friday afternoon, the weekend, extended through today, has been a pleasure.

The Mardi Gras party changed to a dinner, thanks to my own impatience with non-responsive invitees. Then the dinner kept shrinking thanks to illness and unexpected events. In the end, there were only four of us, but that would be the four best, right? ;)  Great company, good food and good spirits, in all senses of the word.

Sunday was just about perfect - church, lunch, nap. Doesn't get much better than that.

Since the house is still pre-party clean, the dishes done and the leftovers making cooking today unnecessary, I took myself out on a road trip this morning, to the quilt shop about half an hour from here. There is a master class - three and a half days long - in October I wanted to sign up for. The entire experience was a bit disappointing. The supply list for the class wasn't available yet, putting a bit of a crimp in my plan to pick up some of said supplies. The shop has been rearranged, going from mildly cramped to screamingly claustrophobia inducing.

But the restaurant across the street is still as charming as ever. A late breakfast of eggs benedict can change your outlook very quickly.

Back to town, a stop at Walgreens and home again. It's been a productive, but relaxing afternoon. Three loads of laundry done. Light bulbs in the bathroom fixture replaced. Lunch made and packed for tomorrow. Leisurely perusing of the organizing and quilt magazines bought this afternoon.

All in all, a lovely extended weekend.
