A call came this morning no one wants to hear: suspicious activity on my check card. While it will be a pain to deal with, I do want to give a shout out to Associated Bank for their excellent customer service and willingness to work with people.
Since I use the check card for everything, including purchases on the net, I check the activity on the account several times a day. The call from Associated's fraud unit came about an hour after my last check - when the account was fine. Kudos to them for their vigilant monitoring and speedy, speedy response to unusual activity.
The banking associate who had the joy of taking my call had the patience of a saint and the willingness to work with me to figure out how to keep things moving in an increasingly paper check hostile world. She went above and beyond by not only asking her supervisor to cut the "rush" charge for a new card in half, but to have it FedExed to my workplace, rather than home, so I don't need to take time off to be home to sign for it.
Kelly not only deserves a gold star for the day; she deserves (and probably needs) a drink.
The one thing Kelly could not do for me is promise me a "consolation date" with Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is spokesperson for the bank. Too bad; tomorrow is crazy canasta chicks night*.
*This only makes sense if you have seen this commerical for Associated.
