Sunday evening at home

After returning from the conference, all I wanted to do was laze around. Truthfully, that is pretty much all I've done.

The weather people kept saying this is probably the last nice weekend we will have until spring, and I had convinced myself I really needed to sweep up the piles of leaves on the patio...but would put it off until Sunday. Around midday Saturday I was in the loft, watching something on the computer, when I heard a leaf blower start up...on the roof. Apparently, one of the maintenance guys from the condo association does this each fall, blowing leaves off the roof and out of what few exposed gutters we have.

Fifteen minutes later, the leaf blower got loud again - this time, I peeked out the bedroom window, and realized the maintenance guy was blowing the leaves off of my patio! Hurrah for procrastination - in this case, I reaped a definite benefit.

I'm about to go make muffins (alas, from a box, not from scratch) and throw together a tuna casserole for dinner. Yesterday I made up a menu for dinner for all of next week, but I opted not to go to the store today, so the Monday and Tuesday dinners will need to be switched. Just didn't feel like it today, and I have enough staples in the house to throw together a couple of the meals on the list. Aldi is less crowded on a Monday night after work than on a Sunday early afternoon, especially on a day with a Packer game that starts at three. You would think people expected to starve to death during a three and a half hour football game, they are so frenzied about accumulating massive amounts of food before the game starts.

Speaking of massive, did I mention that one of the Steeler football players was on my flight from Memphis to New Orleans? They had just announced boarding for first class passengers when a mountain thumped through the boarding area. The biggest man I have ever seen. My seat mate was from Philly (a law enforcement officer who was himself over six feet) and mentioned that the mountain was indeed a football player.

I'm surprised we got off the ground.

Anyway, time to make the muffins and casserole, then watch Once Upon a Time and hit the hay. I've four days of work e-mails to cull through tomorrow...it is going to be a long, long day.
