Currently: 11/17/11

Stolen from Stephanie at Simple Things:

Weathering: The coldest day of the year so far. It is noon and it still isn't above freezing. It warms back up a bit for the weekend, but I think this is a sure sign of things to come.

Wearing: Black skirt, medium blue shirt and a multi-blue pashima style (it's rayon, not actual pashima wool) long scarf. My office is cold, and I'm considering converting the scarf to a shawl style wearing.

Listening: The computer is streaming K-Love, and I can hear bits and pieces of conversation out in the main office. It's actually pretty quiet this afternoon; a lot of people are in another building for a meeting on our system upgrade.

Watching: As of last night, I'm running through old episodes of Quantum Leap on Netflix. It's amazing how often the series makes reference to God, with an assumption that the viewer is watching from a distinctly Judeo-Christian point of view. Whether it held up throughout the series is yet to be seen. The show would never, ever make it to air these days.

Reading: For mind-candy: Heat Wave (yes, a novel based on a television show - it's better than you would think), Plum Lovin' (does Janet Evanovich write any of the Plum series anymore? This one is quite well written). For knowledge: Sheila Walsh's The Shelter of God's Promises. For preparation for Christmas: Immanuel: Praying the Names of God Through the Christmas Season. I think that's everything.

Drinking: What I really want to be drinking is Starbucks' signature hot chocolate, which is no longer on the menu. They've replaced it with some salted caramel thing. I'll give it a try, but I'm pretty sure I won't like it. I may need to order the regular hot chocolate without the chocolate drizzle, and carry my own cinnamon.

Eating: I have a slice of chocolate cake sitting here for a mid-afternoon snack. Dinners this week have been hit or miss. Saturday, company is coming, and the plan (for the moment - ask me again when I'm at the store) has been changed to a hunk of beef braised all day in the crockpot, with roasted veggies, salad and apple crumble. Planning on enough leftovers for Monday lunch.

Inspiring: In an effort to jump start my willingness to clean out the room that will eventually become the sewing room, I bought this. The hope is that over the long weekend, that room can be cleared of everything that is not sewing supplies. Meanwhile, I look at quilting magazines and sigh.

Wishing: Wishing I had time to do the things I want to do, rather than only having time to do the things I need to do. Isn't that the eternal human struggle?

Thinking: I need to make another list. My thoughts are scattered, I'm still thinking through a rather knotty issue that may have a huge impact on my day-to-day life and I can't remember half the time whether I'm here or there. A list would help.

Loving: The colder weather, the beginnings of the Christmas season (who am I kidding - that's been going on for weeks), the idea of warm nights by the fire, comfort casseroles and warm fuzzy slipper-socks. I love popping out to bring in the mail at 9 p.m., and running into a neighbor who is out putting out stale bread for the birds. I even love the ducks that won't fly or walk any faster across the condo complex roads - even when you creep up on them and honk the horn.

Although, if they keep that up, there may be duck liver pate on the Christmas menu.
