Good morning, and a chilly one it is! At least it is no longer raining, and the weekend should be a bit warmer; it should be perfect for covering the patio set and cleaning up the patio for the winter.
Other than those couple of winterizing tasks, the weekend should be fun. My dearest friend, who currently lives in Missouri, is in town and our old card group is getting together for munchies and mayhem. Still-full moving boxes ring the perimeter of the dining room, as well as completely occupying the future sewing room, but the rest of the place is ready for company.
Since this is company girls, is it ok if I get all excited about a vacuum cleaner? Rather than lug my ten year old Dirt Devil up and down the steps, it seemed better to buy a second vacuum and keep one on each level. After a bit of research, I narrowed it down to a couple of models from one manufacturer. As it turns out, I was able to get a factory refurbished unit at not quite half the regular retail price. It should be here tomorrow. Woo hoo!
Oh - and it is amazing how well the old machine works once I remember to change the bag! Oops.
The plan is to goof off the rest of the weekend. I may put together a file cabinet, or finish putting shelf paper in the kitchen, or just stretch out in the recliner while reading with my eyes shut. At some point I should start planning menus. I've met four of my other seven neighbors in the parking garage, and promised them all a dessert get-together. In November, seven strangers will join me for dinner as part of my university's "Dinner for Twelve Strangers" (don't sweat the numbers - the idea is to invite students into your home for a meal). Somewhere in there I want to start having friend over as well...
