Gamesmanship

So how long has the President dithered over presenting a new "jobs policy"? He's a week out from his speech, but doesn't yet have the details settled on what exactly he is going to propose. But he does have the pre-speech game playing in motion.

He wanted to speak in front of a joint session of Congress on September 7th - the day of the Republican presidential candidates' debate. Wise to the prez's game, Speaker Boehner said no, move it to September 8th.

September 8th is the opening game of the NFL season, an event being hosted at Lambeau Field between the Packers and the Saints.

I can tell you this as truth: if the president's speech preempts even one second of that game on Wisconsin's television screens, the state will go overwhelmingly Republican in the next presidential election.

Update: Priorities.
