I'm sitting at Panera this morning, so go on up to the counter - drinks and bagels on me this morning.
My summer of "summer hours" is winding to a close. Only three more left (no Friday off next week, as Monday is the holiday). I do think this is one of only two of those Fridays I've been able to go out first thing in the morning. Too much has been going on.
I'm in the lull before the storm of mortgage signing (and big check writing) and moving. The close is less than two weeks away, but I'm not going to move until October 3rd...at least that is the plan right now. I put a letter in with my rent Wednesday night giving notice and some other information, but have yet to hear anything from my landlords. Who knows, they may kick me out before then.
Tomorrow is going to be very interesting. A neo-Nazi group is holding a rally at our city hall - less than two blocks down from my house. The police have already gone around to businesses on the main street in front of city hall, suggesting that they may want to close during the rally. On the way home from work yesterday, I saw many barricades sitting on the sides of several streets, waiting to be moved to block off streets. If they block off the streets early enough, the people coming to protest at the rally will have to park further away...you can see where I'm going with this.
What on earth possesses people to hold such vile beliefs? Why are we so afraid of people/things that are different from us that we react with hatred and violence?
As tempting as it is to stay here and drink more coffee with you all, I need to get home...packing boxes call.
