Good morning! Happy Friday, all. Why is it that "short" work weeks seem to take extra long to get to Friday?
T-minus six days to closing, and not a whole lot of packing done over the Labor Day weekend. I was on a roll Friday night, but the city's overreaction to the neo-nazi rally put a bit crimp in my Saturday plans. They posted my street "temporary no parking". As I've no off street parking (and wasn't about to park blocks away, where the car would be out of sight, when all these "thousands" of crazy people were supposed to be roaming the neighborhood with chains and broken bottles), I ended up wandering from coffee shop to coffee shop, reading, all day Saturday.
The rally? Basically a non-event. The police and city will claim credit for the lack of trouble, but honestly, had the media not talked incessantly about it for two weeks beforehand, it would have been very small. Five people were arrested, but not for any violence. Personally, I think having police in riot gear and half a dozen mounted cops (no one is going to argue with a horse) already in place at the start of the rally was a bit of overkill, as was boarding up the windows on city hall. Whatever - it is over.
I still haven't figured out what day I want to move. This weekend's packing will tell the tale. At least I'm close enough I can start packing the kitchen...I have a small walk-in pantry at my current flat that is, well, let's just say full. And I don't even keep any food in there...
