Too early for a Saturday

I can't title this "lazy" Saturday, as it's not even 7 a.m. and I've already washed a big load of dishes, read through the paper and started straightening around the house. I'm not sure it will be a "trapped" Saturday either, as judging by the lack of parked cars on our street last night, it looks as if we won't get a great deal of Fair traffic. That may be due to the incidents on opening day (see last post), though.

Not much on the list for today. Clean the kitchen and bathroom, do some reading, some purging, some packing. Read through the box (serious - a robe-size Boston Store box) of condo association documents the agent gave me yesterday. Plan meals. I never did get to the second grocery store last week, but the stocks of Gruyere, cheddar, spreadable Swiss and fancy sausage have been laid in, and I've both crackers and several bottles of wine. Wine, cheese and crackers make an acceptable dinner...though they might frown on my bringing the same to work for lunches next week.

The condo inspection took place yesterday. The place has been poked and prodded to death, and proclaimed satisfactory. There are two things for the agent to talk to the owners about, but neither are deal-breakers.

The oddest thing (and one that may cost me over the long run) is that the place has an eighty gallon water heater. The average household is served with one half that size. I just looked at the inspector, and said, "So I'll be paying to keep all that water hot at all times?!" Fortunately, there are programs We Energies has that will cycle things off and give you a credit on your bill, but still - ! The good/bad news is that the unit has another ten or so years of life in it. I'll evaluate the bills after six months or so; if it proves ridiculously expensive to continue heating all that water, I'll see if I can sell it to someone who needs that much capacity and get a smaller one.

Honestly, I think that even with people taking long, hot showers in both bathrooms while the dishwasher and clothes washer are running wouldn't even put a dent in that capacity.

Speaking of hot, it's time to make a pot of coffee.
