The summer solstice arrived along with, as Melissa would say, seriously dishy thunderstorms. The pre-event happened yesterday morning- the only morning of my long weekend I chose to sleep in. Or, more accurately, loll around in bed listening to the wonderful sound of the rain.
Round two took place overnight last night, just enough to get everything wet again. A short burst blew through in the mid-afternoon hours today, but the main show began just a few minutes ago.
Several lines of strong thunderstorms are creeping up our way, with the possibility of wind gusts up to 70 mph in places. That could make things interesting; during the last two windy storms, a piece of siding has torn mostly loose, flapping back against the house, dangerously close to my dining room windows. Note that the landlord never seems to actually fix it, but rather just tucks it back up underneath and throws another nail in it. We'll see if my dining room is flooded in the morning.
Or the basement...the work they are doing on the side street seems to be for the sewer/storm drains. Usually, I can hear the sump pump running when I am sitting here...I'm not sure if it is a good or bad thing that it has been pouring for a quarter of an hour and I don't hear it.
Eh, no matter what, I love storms. Although, come to think of it, my umbrella is....out in the car.
