Speechless

All morning I've been searching for words, perusing my old blog posts, looking at what others have had to say about the meaning of this day. So many words, so many images, so much to remember, memorialize and be thankful for.

"Thank you" seems so thin, so inadequate, so unfulfilling a salute to the men and women who have given their lives for our country, and for the families they left behind.

So what can we offer? Support for our troops, no matter what our politics may be. Respect for the men and the uniform, giving the honor due to those who willingly give up the comforts of home to serve their country both here and abroad. Gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy, and fierce protection against those who would try to abridge them. Commitment to American exceptionalism, doing our part to keep our country strong, secure and an example to the rest of the world.

We must never forget.
