Lazy Saturday

My every-three-weeks root touch up was pushed to ten rather than eight due to a bridal party needing the early appointments, which gave me a chance to sleep in a bit this morning.  Then it was off to turn my hair into a coat of many colors (seriously, I think we put in three different shades of highlights today - caramel, red and almost blonde - though the effect is subtle).

Not much since then.  A couple small loads of laundry, some reading, some sewing (those long borders on the quilt take forever to pin adequately), some television and a bit of picking up rounded out the day.  I'm not moving very quickly; sleep has been erratic this week, and my iron is low.  A quiet day - and supplements - was just what I needed.

Tomorrow, a trip to the grocery.  I found an old Cook's Illustrated issue in my bookcase with make-ahead meals.  I love that magazine - not only the final, perfect recipes, but an explanation of the process used to weed out inferior ingredients/proportions/processes.  While there are several I plan to try, the stuffed shells are calling out to me. It feeds eight, the recipe calling for freezing it in two 8 x 8 pans.  I can use four smaller ones, each with two servings.  Provided I remember to pull one out the night before to thaw, these will provide easy dinners.

Along with the freezer food, I may make Pioneer Woman's Beef Stew with Mushrooms, although as I've said before, I tend to call it Mushrooms with a little bit of Stew Meat.  A half batch of that will keep me in dinners/lunches for a good part of the week.

Unless, of course, I change my mind and decide to come home from church and take a nap.  Anything is possible.

Car update:  I felt lousy after work, but really wanted that piece of trim dealt with.  As a result, though I kept the appointment, I didn't have them look at the trunk.  The entire visit took less than twenty minutes, and cost me nothing.  The trunk still needs fixing, but I can drop the car off some other time when I both feel better and have more patience.
