Funny how there is a Monday every week. Not so funny how it never fails that things go a bit wonky on Mondays. At any rate, it's back to work.
It should (fingers crossed) be a short week. I'm taking my floater (yes, I'm well aware of the meaning of that word that is not related to a floating holiday - one can only hope the day off doesn't take on the characteristics of a rotting body floating in the water somewhere...) on Friday. The original plan was to take a couple days at the end of the first week of February, but an auditor with no time management skills is "only" available the very days I planned (and had out of town reservations) to be gone.
Gah. Fortunately, the place/room I wanted is available this weekend, and I was able to change the dates without penalty, while retaining the winter deal (stay 2 nights, get a third one free). So you would think things are looking up...
...Did I mention that we are apparently supposed to get "light snow" tomorrow (defined as 2-4 or 3-5 inches, depending on to whom you listen), and more "light" snow on Friday, with the bulk of the Friday storm passing to the north of Milwaukee? Guess which direction I'll be traveling - on Friday?
The only explanation I have for all the little annoyances attached to this trip is demonic resistance. It's not as far out there as you are thinking - I'll share more about the trip this weekend, and why it makes sense that I'm getting resistance.
It's still Monday, and the piles on my desk are still really, really high. In fact, it appears they grew over the weekend.
I need to bring a birthday treat in this week (yup, I got older over the weekend - that may be why I'm not feeling terribly resilient and adaptable this morning), and planned to bring it tomorrow. It just dawned on me that we have a pizza party for lunch tomorrow for a coworker who is retiring...better to wait until Wednesday to bring in more food.
Gah. Thanks for letting me get some Monday mutterings off my chest.
