No, not the stolen car - all the tickets for the Bears-Packers game this coming Sunday. Playoff fever is pretty bad around here; several local businesses are either closing early, or not opening at all on Sunday. In a first-ever move, the annual Boat Show will be closing early that afternoon, although they will have extended hours the day before to make up for it (in case you are in the market for a half million dollar yacht).
Me? Eh. Not so much into football, and if I watch, the Packers are sure to lose. Personally, I'm not sure I could stand the extra several weeks' worth of extended sports coverage if they win...
I do, however, need to remember to go to the grocery store well in advance of Saturday afternoon. The local grocers have made out big time over this extended playoff season - sales of beer, brats, chips, hamburger and the like are up considerably over last year's sales. Due to bad timing, I've been shopping during the couple of hours prior to regular season games; if it is that crazy and it is not the playoffs, I can imagine the frenzy there will be at the supermarkets this weekend in advance of the big game.
Really - around here, this game may be bigger than the Superbowl.
