Company Girl coffee 012111

It is minus-I-don't-want-to-know outside, with a stiff wind.  When I turned onto the main street early this morning, I was greeted by a gorgeous, pure white full moon hanging in a velvet blue sky - it is so clear you could see every mountain and valley on its surface.  It was pretty enough to stop me shivering for a second.

This has been a hectic week; work is over-the-top busy, as this is the time of year all the international students who have jobs on campus need to visit us to fill out the paperwork Uncle Sam requires for each calendar year.  In the past two days, I've talked to people from Lebanon, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Indonesia, India, Nepal and many, many from China.  In spite of the fashion of basing our country, in spite of the furor over illegal immigration, there are still people around the world who are willing to work hard with the hope of not only coming here to study, but to stay and partake of the American dream.  It's a bit humbling.

Sometime this weekend I will get more pictures from my trip posted, though I didn't take many overall.  Pictures of the room are here.  I could get used to hopping out of bed at 4 a.m., turning on the gas fireplace and returning to bed to snooze in front of the fire for a couple more hours...  Not all was fun and games; I did finish one book, get most of the way through another (though I started one more; the reading pile never really gets smaller!) and do some writing projects, as well as think/pray through a few things.

What I didn't know - and probably shouldn't have discovered - is that there is a quilt shop three doors down from the Inn.  I do have a habit of returning from a vacation with fabric (even a Caribbean cruise); this was no exception.

The entire state is in a frenzy this weekend, as the Green Bay Packers are playing the Chicago Bears Sunday for one of the league championships, and the right to play in the Superbowl.  We have the oldest rivalry in football; this game is, for all intents and purposes, even more important than the Superbowl for local fans.

Cleaning, maybe some baking, a lot of research on an issue for Bible study, a bit of napping are on the docket for the weekend.
