The pair of geese from yesterday are still hanging around at the bottom of the on ramp. Now, it may simply be that the crew working on the new support pillar for the freeway (one of the massive support pillars in our fifteen month old multimillion dollar freeway rebuild developed cracks serious enough that it had to be replaced) are feeding them, but I'm beginning to wonder if one of them is injured.
As I said, their stroll across the lanes was extremely slow, and it looked a bit as if one of the pair was walking more head down than usual - as it was today as well. It's migratory season, and by this time of the year, most geese are well on their way to warmer climes.
Geese mate for life; if one of the pair is injured, the mate will stay behind with it. One would only hope humans could be so loyal.
