Sweet things

"Girl, you better get in the kitchen and get some of that food before it's all gone," the cleaning lady said to me when she came in my office to empty the trash, "There's a big tray of cookies and a cheese tray and some other stuff."

An e-mail had come out an hour or so before, announcing there were treats in the kitchen in honor of Jason's birthday.  Birthday treats are not unusual; as common in many offices, you are required to celebrate your natal day by bringing in a treat for the whole office (does that sound backwards to anyone else?)What is unusual is the fact that Jason is one of our student workers, who are exempt from the office treat rules.

The icing on the birthday cake, so to speak, is that it wasn't Jason who brought in the treats, it was his dad.

That is one of the sweetest things I've ever seen.

Face it, if his mom had done the same thing, we would think it a bit creepy and over the top.  But it's out of the ordinary for a dad to take the time to pick something up, then drop it off at his son's workplace.

Fortunately, his dad over estimated the number of people in the office, and there is rather an overabundance of food.  As a result, there's a good chance some of it will be left when Jason comes in to work in an hour...maybe.
