Company Girls coffee 090310

Last night the flat was still hot and sticky; this morning, when I walked out of the house, I could have used a jacket!  Wisconsin: If you don't like the weather, stick around a few days.

The cooler weekend is made for putzing around.  Some cleaning needs to be done, but I'm thinking about going to the farmers' market as well as to some friends' picnic.

If I hit the market, I'll take pictures.  The West Allis Farmers' Market is one of the largest and oldest in the state; at ninety years old, it's been around almost three times longer than that poser market in Madison.  One of the advantages of growing up where I did is that this market is just blocks from home (as well as blocks from where I live now; I'm really going to miss it when I move!).

Other plans for the weekend include opening all the drapes, throwing up the windows and sweeping out the dust left by fans running constantly for the last two months. In addition to a general clean, I can put out the autumn decorations.  The scarecrow that sat on the green wooden chair that goes on the porch in fall went to the great straw pile in the sky over the winter; a suitable replacement needs to be found.  Two weeks ago I culled the seasonal decor; it's time to get the boxes to Goodwill, so someone else can be blessed with those things this fall.

Still working my way through the stack of books - added one more to it last night (Francis Chan - Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God).  In my defense, I did finish one and get most of the way through another this last week.  Still, no net decrease in the stack.

Perhaps I'll just join the scarecrow on the porch after the market Saturday, and enjoy a fresh apple while I read.  That sounds like a plan.
