I picked up a couple of books that I had on hold at the library. It's a good thing the names of the books are also on the spines, as the clerks decided to put the bar code sticker in a very interesting place:
Why yes - in both cases, the bar code sticker is centered (very nicely, I might add) over the title.

When I came home, I had to slow down to let a man cross the street at the alley. He was wearing shorts and a sleeveless t-shirt - and black work gloves, in spite of the fact it is already seventy-five degrees and humid.
Thirty seconds later, as I gathered my things to get out of the car, I noticed him walking across the parking lot of the church across the street. He looked into their dumpsters, then turned to cross the street again, heading for the dumpsters for the apartment buildings, I think.
I do understand the theory of dumpster diving for usable items that others have tossed, but this guy wasn't carrying any sort of bag to haul things in. So what was he doing, casing the block for an empty dumpster in which to toss a body?
