Company Girls coffee 080610

Pull up a chair and pour yourself a cup! Are we really a full week into August already? We must be - the Wisconsin State Fair started yesterday.

Aside from the parking hassle the Fair creates around my flat, it is pretty cool to have this event within walking distance from home. Growing up near the fairgrounds, and continuing to live so close as an adult, the fair seems somehow a hometown thing, more than a state-wide (actually multi-state) entertainment destination. The nightly fireworks are visible from the front porch; when the wind is right, the music from the main stage acts drifts past.

How many of you have entered food or crafts in a state or county fair? I've done it once, earning a blue ribbon for a quilted Christmas tree skirt. Before you ooo and ahh, I should tell you there were probably three entries total in that category. Still, it was fun (and I've wisely rested on my laurels and not entered anything since!).

I'm meeting a friend at the Fair Monday for the long-awaited Third Day concert. Have I mentioned that Monday is supposed to be eighty-nine with high humidity and thunderstorms? Trusting God that the two-hour concert window, at least, will be dry.

Have a blessed weekend!
