Transform(er)ed

At some point in time, director Michael Bey fell in love with the look of the Calatrava addition to our Milwaukee Art Museum.  So much so, in fact, that he decided to film part of Transformers 3 in Milwaukee, using the museum as an element in the film.  Next Monday and Tuesday a crew of about 150 - including some of the principal actors - will descend on the city to shoot the museum based scenes.

While it's nice to have Hollywood come calling, the quality of the works they chose to film here could be improved upon - honestly, Transformers 3?  It was nice to have Johnny Depp and Christian Bale around to make Public Enemies (although I believe they stayed in Chicago, not Milwaukee, whilst filming here), the movie itself, well, sucked.  And who can forget our great claim to fame - Major League, wherein our old county stadium was the location for most of the baseball game scenes, though it was standing in for a stadium in Cleveland; yes, we were Cleveland's understudy.

The up side is that the movie makers usually use local talent for extras and occasional small speaking parts.  I'm certain there is a plum part for an early-fifties-but-looks-late-thirties, five foot four inch, brunette, brown eyed actress.  She may even be able to take over for Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, after that young actress falls victim to bratwurst poisoning.

I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille Bey.
