It's a good thing they pay me for my brain, not my brawn

So, a trip to the doctor yesterday, after five days of pain, revealed a small tendon tear. The good news: with time and rest, it will most likely self-heal. The bad news: it will continue to hurt, and advil/tylenol doesn't help much.

Now I have a spiffy new brace to wear for the next two weeks or so, keeping it on as much as possible. It keeps the arm from bending in ways I wasn't bending it anyway because it hurt (pain avoidance is high on my list of desired activities).

As he was discussing the course of treatment, my doctor mentioned that if the bracing interfered with my duties at work, to call him and he'd do the paperwork to put me on disability...it was so very, very tempting (particularly since yesterday was 70 degrees and sunny - spring fever has burst forth).

The truth is, I earn my living with my brain (shut up, peanut gallery; no cracks about low earning potential) and rarely do anything more strenuous than stroll to the other end of the office to refill the coffee cup. The only real difficulty I have is in answering the phone...I could move it to the other side of the desk, but being physically unable to pick up the phone is something I consider a benefit of this injury.
