Now that I've reignited my status with the search engines for that old George Jones' tune, a few random thoughts and news items.
- Work parking lot is not done. In fact, I don't think they've done anything at all this week. So one more week of taking the bus. This is the end of week four - of a four to six week project.
- It's more expensive to take the sewing machine in for a check-up than it is for my own annual physical. While I'm an ace at stripping, cleaning and oiling older machines, this one is computerized and requires special handling. But it needs to go in. While I'm at the shop, I'll pick up batting for the rest of the quilt tops on the pile, planning to layer them while I am without the machine.
- Speaking of quilts, I put the binding on a friend's baby quilt last night. All that is left is to hand sew it down and attach a label. Maybe I should call her and get the baby's name and actual birthdate, huh? Will try to post a pic later.
- Dinner party at a friend's tomorrow night. Taking the chocolate trifle for my contribution - again, will try to post pics later. This is easier than the first - fewer (and less expensive) ingredients.
- Going early to the dinner party to - surprise - have a look at my friend's sewing machine. She had someone come in and clean and oil it; since then, it's made a funky noise when she uses the zigzag.
- Work on the roof at home is going faster than the work on the parking lot here. I am a bit confused/concerned though; it appears they are actually tearing off and replacing the plywood of the roof itself. Was it actually rotten? Don't really want to know. Still haven't talked to LL and frankly don't see the point. More detailed post about the real issue later. You'd be surprised.
- Stack of stuff to take to Goodwill, which may or may not get done. Need to get in the cedar chest that it is all sitting on.
Half an hour left - need to clean off the desk and make a priority list for Monday. Hard to believe it is almost the end of September.
