Slept later today (7:30), then hung out in 'jams for a while - I never do that. It was a cool morning, nice to just putter with no real plans.
Pulled out the fabric for a baby quilt, popped in a movie to watch while I cut. The movie should have been the Beatles' classic Help, but the envelope contained a Samuel L. Jackson movie called Cleaners instead. This is the second time in two weeks Blockbuster has had the wrong movie in the right envelope. I watched it anyway; let's just say the title does not reference Merry Maids.
Went to the library to return a book this afternoon. Outside on the patio, a group of people were arguing the merits of socialism, and whether the neo-nazi movement is really new. Inside, the pretty young woman who waited on me wore dark robes and a gorgeous deep lavender hijab. Where else but America?
On that note, happy Flag Day. I've been to Waubeka many times for lessons on Flag Day, as the kid's club I volunteered in took overnight camping trips to a camp nearby. The tour of the schoolhouse and lesson on Bernard Cigrand was part of our regular trip.
It just me, or does the exterior shot of the Monsters, Inc. factory look just like the sarcophagus built around the reactor at Chernobyl?
It did indeed storm again today, but only for about half an hour - not even enough to merit a look outside these days. The radar shows some storms entering Minneapolis and moving southeast - that may reach us. We won't really know how bad the damage from last weeks storms is until all the rivers finally crest and start to subside.
Getting a chicken ready for the crockpot. It will sit in the crock in the refrigerator until tomorrow morning; that way, I don't have to face a naked chicken first thing in the morning. The plan is to pick the meat off to make barbequed chicken for card night on the 27th. This particular recipe calls for simmering the shredded, cooked chicken with onion, spices and sauces until it all thickens. It freezes very well, and can be served hot or cold. Orange-strawberry salad, cream cheese torte and various munchies will round out the menu. Time is very elastic right now - I'm having a hard time believing that it is only the 14th, not the 21st.
