- Nine inches of snow overnight. That would be over the top of my boots. Note to self: Invest in winter boots with longer shaft.
- Temperatures below freezing, so road salt ineffective. Nasty drive to work.
- MJ is on vacation this week (skiing in Colorado, ironically enough), so I get to function as her back up this week. Beware of onset of bizarre questions from rest of University community.
- Spend four hours writing a concise, lucid narrative for monthly financial statements. Expect committee to tear it apart at review meeting tomorrow. Reminder to self: Committee is neither concise nor lucid. Well, now. Only the concise, lucid members of the review committee showed up. We were in and out in half an hour, after reviewing four different documents. Only two small changes to mine, which I was planning to make anyway (and pointed out during the meeting). And these are the qtrly statements that go to the Board of Trustees.
- Add "dummy money" to certain problem-child department accounts so professionals can be paid. Remove dummy money after payment, so we can see the total deficit to date for said department. Not pretty. Not my problem.
- Input sixteen general ledger distributions in student system. Find several errors in the information I was sent to input. Resolve with other department.
- Desperately try to clear desk of small items during the late afternoon. Note to self: Prepare "cheat sheet" re: which new file cabinets contain which files. You'll never remember otherwise.
- Call vice president to see if boss responded to her e-mail regarding massive data conversion. Spend fifteen minutes updating her on complete lack of testing of our data, and lack of concern regarding such on boss' part. VP not surprised.
- Do quick to-do list. Need larger piece of paper. Place prominently in center of desk so as not to be missed tomorrow.
Wednesday through Friday, lather, rinse, repeat.
