Sigh

Enough already with the snow. It started snowing yesterday morning early, and just never stopped. When I cleared the car to move it around 4 p.m., about four inches had accumulated on the roof. This morning, I cleared another four inches.

It was very pretty, though, looking out from inside during the storm. I didn't leave the house except to move the car, and it was quite pleasant to look out and see the gently falling snow from the warm vantage point of the living room.

The last I heard, snow totals this December were about 13" above what we normally get for the whole month - and that was before this storm. The side streets are about three feet narrower than they should be due to the snowbanks, and it seems every corner has a view-obstructing mountain of the white stuff. It's going to be cold, so it will all freeze in place. When it warms up on Wednesday - you guessed it - it is supposed to snow.

On the flip side, a friend and I have tentative plans to head to the ski slopes. Not to ski - her kids will do that - we plan to sit in the lodge by the fire and chat. With age comes wisdom. A snifter of brandy would be nice, too.

Other parts of the country are in much worse shape, I realize. Just view all the snow as replenishment for the water tables. Thirty inches of snow can be a good thing!
