This will be a rather focused weekend; I'm taking some work home, where I can work on it in uninterrupted peace. It is difficult to get the train of thought to the station when others continually derail it. Any breaks will be spent putting decorations on my almost naked Christmas tree. Poor thing was put together on Thanksgiving, but is currently only adorned with its permanently fastened-on lights.
A fine line exists between genuine gladness at a friend's good fortune, and flat out envy. She brought home her new company car last night - an Acura MDX. My last car was a little Acura Integra; my understanding is the MDX is just as much fun to drive, and almost as nimble. She offered the keys to me last night, but I daren't take her up on it. I'm pretty sure a felony conviction for grand theft auto would lose me my cpa license.
The snow keeps coming - 2" overnight last night, another 2" forecast for late Saturday. The weathermen are staring to make (premature, I hope) comparisons to December of 1999, when we had a grand total of 58" of snow, in increments of a few inches almost every day. Have I mentioned that my winter boots leak? Better to have snow and cold than mild temperatures and slush.
Cornish hens with wild rice and a yam-apple bake are on the tentative menu for the weekend, if I hit the other grocery store tonight for the last of the ingredients. Leftovers take care of lunches at least through Tuesday, which is wonderful. Standing in front of the refrigerator at five thirty in the morning, trying to figure out what to take for lunch, is not fun. Planning ahead is for the unadventurous. A true adventure is having a container of yogurt, a little granola and a few carrots for lunch.
Sheesh, no wonder I'm hungry.
New quilt pictures should be coming soon - there are a few pictures left of the roll (yes! film! you know - that old-fashioned stuff) but I think I'm going to take it in anyway, as I'm not in danger of finishing any new quilts soon. The first picture on the roll, I think, is of a quilt finished almost two years ago.
I don't take many pictures.
Tune in tomorrow for more insightful drivel.
