Forget about banning cell phone use while driving for the younger set, apparently we need to ban squirrels from all roads the under-20 set uses:
Two people were taken to Froedtert Hospital on Oct. 21 after slamming into a parked car, which careened into a house and ruptured a gas line, because a squirrel crossed the road.
According to the Wauwatosa police report:
The 19-year-old woman driving the car swerved to avoid a squirrel in the 1300 block of North 68th Street, driving across a lane of traffic and into a parked car.
Her car caused the unoccupied, parked vehicle to go airborne and slam into the porch and natural gas meter of the neighboring house. A concrete chunk was ripped off the porch and the railing pierced the outer wall of the home.
The driver and her passenger, a 20-year-old man, were taken to Froedtert Hospital for treatment of knee and jaw pain at 5:50 p.m.
The driver was cited for failing to keep a vehicle under control, driving with suspended registration and driving without proof of insurance.
How fast was she going that the impact sent the parked car airborne?
Really, reality is stranger than anything we can imagine.
