A little earlier every year

This morning my McDonald's coffee came in a Christmas cup. Oh, it didn't say Christmas, or even the politically correct "holiday greetings". But it still has a cutsey gift-tag medallion stating "Unwrap a little joy" on one side, with a command to "unwrap, unwind, enjoy!" on the other.

Some may say it serves me right for drinking their swill. All I can say is that I was at Starbucks late yesterday afternoon, and their coffee cups are still seasons-greetings free. How long that will last is anyone's guess.

I'm not ready to think about Christmas (well, as long as you ignore the fact I've already begun shopping). It is supposed to be seventy-five degrees on Thursday, the trees still have leaves and it's not yet Halloween, much less Thanksgiving.  I don't have my anti-humbug, remember-the-reason-for-the-season force field up.

At this rate, the Easter candy will be on shelves by Christmas Eve.
