The recall primary is over. The final race will be a rerun of the original 2010 election, pitting current Governor Walker against Milwaukee Mayor Barrett.
The unions, which have a huge stake in this race, heavily backed one of Barrett's opponents in the primary. They've now thrown their support to Barrett, who they had initially urged not to run. That has to be an uneasy partnership, but the unions are desperate to have the Democrats win this recall.
The paper insists that this election will focus on the economy, but the truth is that it is more a referendum on collective bargaining. This month between the primary and the general election is going to be messy, loud and angry.
