Little dresses

Women's voices murmur quietly, an occasional burst of laughter rising above the whir of the sewing machines. Somewhere in the background, a band is rehearsing. Bright pieces of rick rack, lace and ribbon spill off the edge of the tables next to the stack of previously cast off pillowcases.

Those pillowcases are being turned into dresses for little girls in Africa.

It doesn't take very long to do the basic conversion, but care is taken to be sure every dress receives some sort of embellishment, from rick rack to handmade fabric flowers. The goal isn't just to send much needed clothing; the goal is to help these little girls know they are special, they are loved.

It was a privilege to be able to help.
