Weekend stuff

Almost as good as having Monday off is being able to go in almost three hours later than usual. I need to go visit the (nonsparkly) vampires first thing in the morning; their "first thing" is two hours later than my personal "first thing". Yay for being able to sleep in a bit on a Monday.

Medium-ish productive weekend. There was the great meatball adventure (see previous post), whose fruits are safely counted into a dozen containers and frozen for easy lunches. Lots of odd job cleaning, from spot cleaning the (very pale cream colored) living room carpet to vacuuming the slats on the louvered doors from the dining room to the kitchen to moving the refrigerator out to mop behind it. Made the quick, easy and tasty lemon chicken with mushrooms for dinner, with enough left over for tomorrow's lunch (can't eat until after the vampire visit - needed a special lunch!).

Helped a friend to figure out an easier way to piece a quilt. Honestly, if you expect me to pay upwards of eight bucks for a two page, photocopied pattern, you had better know how to write an efficient piecing method. In less than fifteen minutes we figured out both an easier piecing method that will use a bit less material and resized the center of some of the blocks so the cutting requirements weren't so onerous.

Today's service was absolutely awesome. I will most likely do a separate post on it, but for now let's just say it is certainly a different, probably more accurate way to look at Palm Sunday. Very much looking forward to Easter at this church; two services and a breakfast in between. Some of the professional photographers from the congregation will be taking family portraits. I love seeing the little kids in all their Easter finery (does anyone but me remember the white gloves and Easter hats that were a requirement for Easter Sunday church?).

Played with the Kindle Fire quite a bit. It's just that little bit heavy, enough so I'll probably use the regular Kindle for longer reading sessions. But the video quality on the Fire is incredible, and the web surfing is awesome. Although I've not tested it, I should be able to open excel and word documents as well as pdfs. A PSA on Kindle cases - Marware cases are incredible. The price is a bit higher than the Amazon cases, but they are well worth it.

I suppose that in order to get that extra sleep, I should toddle off to bed, huh?
